About Charles...

Charles Allen DeCapua was born on July 29th, 1992 and was subsequently diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, asthma and hearing loss. Through the years, Charles has learned lip reading and sign language and watches TV using closed caption. He is able to walk a bit, but can lose balance pretty easily- he says "Sometimes I walk goofy or get out of breath, so I use a wheelchair to get around and go longer distances". Therapy helps him to deal with some of these seemingly insurmountable obstacles, and lately, therapy is becoming harder to afford.

A lifetime of strugglehas helped him to deal with the hardships of having CP- he had 3 surgeries on his eyes when he was younger. "I was really cross eyed. Sometimes you’ll see one of my eyes looking somewhere else. Just because that is happening doesn’t necessarily mean I’m not looking at what or who is in front of me. My brain has learned how to look straight!", he says. "I have spasms with my arms and legs sometimes. My right arm is the worst. I have learned to work around it. And my muscles hurt 24/7 because I am constantly moving around during the day and even while I am sleeping. Every day I wake up with sore shoulders, arms, hands, back, ribs, legs and feet. So when you see me wince, I am really in pain. I have really come to know pain and cramps". Charles is in intensive therapy to control his muscle movements and pain, and his will to fight it is an incredible inspiration to those around him.

A lifelong Mechanic-In-Training Charles likes Muscle Cars and Trucks. "My two favorite Cars are the 1969 Dodge Charger R/T and the 1985 Pontiac Trans-Am. My Dad got me a beat up 1985 Trans Am to have fun with when I was a kid. With his guidance and a little help from my sister, we rebuilt it from the ground up. Dad named it Frankenstein for all of it's random parts and pieces, but we call it Frankie for short" says Charles.

Charles wrote, "I am praying to God to heal me and help me walk better. And I'm not really a 100% normal person, but I blessed to have family and friends who treat me like I am. I'm a country boy who likes to be outside rather than being behind the computer doing whatever people do these days. I like to go out and breathe the fresh air, look at the sky, check out the cars, go mudding, sit on the tailgate and talk about whatever. I eat meat, wear pj’s all the time at home with my favorite cap, and think about nothing more than driving my car. One thing I don't like- I HATE going to the mall!"

Charles started a car club on facebook when he was younger that now has over 10,000 members worldwide, with new members joining every day. With the help of a dedicated admin team, his group is the place to go for parts, seasoned advice, cool merchandise and folks from all over the globe sharing pictures and stories about their 80's and 90's Camaros and Firebirds. "I take Sundays off" says Charles when it comes to checking in on thousands of rowdy gearheads butting heads over just about anything. "Being an admin can get tough sometimes."

Charles needs ongoing special care and intensive therapy to try to live somewhat of a normal life. We will keep this fund going indefinitely and 100% of the funds donated will go directly to Charles to help defray the costs of all that goes into his care and treatment. All donations made will be listed as "anonymous" (unless otherwise specified) and will be immediately Processed thru PayPal safely and securely by clicking the link below.
